A Dreamy Maternity Photoshoot at Blandly Farm in Boyce, VA

outdoor maternity photoshoot

As the journey into motherhood unfolds, there's a magical period during pregnancy when your body undergoes incredible changes, and you can't help but marvel at the beauty of life growing within you. A maternity photoshoot is a wonderful way to capture this unique and fleeting moment in your life. I wanted to share my thoughts and experience about my maternity shoot.

At first, I wasn't going to go through with doing one. At this point I am 34 weeks pregnant and just exhausted and heavy. The last thing I wanted to do was stand for more than 10 minutes and dread being in pain or exhaustion.

I scrolled through Pinterest looking at my old boards and what I envisioned for a maternity photoshoot and I just fell in love with how the photos on there looked. I thought to myself - I don't want to regret NOT doing it and I want our daughter to look back on these photos. I wish my mom had photos like these from when she was pregnant with me (but I get it, photoshoots like these weren't "in" back in her day). Finally, I convinced myself to do it.

I already had a photographer in mind since we hired her for our announcement photos back in February. You can see her Instagram page here. Luckily, she was available to squeeze us into her schedule. We chose a location and I sent her my Pinterest board for inspo and we were all set.

Next, I had to find a dress. Originally, I had been searching on Pinkblush and ordered an $80 dress I thought would look nice, but it just ended up looking too big and making me feel insecure about myself so it was NOT it ( I returned it). I was freaking out because I only had 2 days to order something. I search on Amazon and stumble across two options that I could potentially wear to this maternity photoshoot and my baby shower (the following weekend). It said it would arrive the day of the photoshoot, so I was praying it would come before we had to leave for the farm.

The morning of my photoshoot I got my hair toned, glossed, and blow-dried. I got my makeup done by a makeup artist right after that, and during the makeup session the Amazon fairy arrived at my door with my dress. I tried it on and it was PERFECT. Both of them were. I decided to go with the white strapless boho dress for this shoot and this floral midi ruffle hem dress for my "Baby in Bloom/ Wildflower" themed baby shower.

We drove about an hour to Blandy Experimental Farm in Boyce, VA where we met up with our photographer and that's when the magic happened. Thank you Dani for capturing all the new milestones in our lives.

Final thoughts, I am so happy I decided to go through with the photoshoot. We will always be able to look back at how young we were, how big my pregnant belly was, how much we love each other, and to gift these beautiful memories to our daughter. It was most definitely a dreamy maternity photoshoot at Blandly Farm in Boyce, VA

P.S. there were many more photos, but these were some of my top favorites.

Thanks so much for stopping by, XO

Jazmine
